  • Our two-person system is central to how we operate. Whilst one of us may be out exercising pets or collecting household essentials, the property itself is never left unattended, providing security and reassurance throughout your trip.

  • Every home and every pet is different. Time is taken before each stay to understand routines, preferences and household requirements, ensuring everything runs smoothly with consistency, attention to detail and professionalism.

The Team

Haven and Hound is operated by husband and wife team Gary and Janet, working together to provide trusted in-home pet care and genuine 24/7 home presence throughout every stay.

Gary Whitehead

Co-Owner | Lead Pet Care

Gary leads pet care throughout each stay and brings practical experience working with animals of different types, personalities and routines. Growing up within a farming environment created early exposure to a wide range of animals, while experience working within a reputable dog day care setting further strengthened practical handling skills and understanding of individual behaviours.

Service within the Army Reserve helped reinforce values including integrity, responsibility, reliability and respect, which continue to guide the standards and approach expected throughout Haven and Hound.

Janet plays a key role in maintaining continuous home presence and supporting the smooth running of each stay. With a calm and attentive approach and a genuine love of animals, she actively supports pet care while helping maintain familiar routines throughout each booking.

As part of the two-person Haven and Hound approach, Janet contributes across all aspects of each stay while also working a flexible fully remote administrative role during weekdays, naturally complementing the continuous home presence that sits at the centre of the service.
